Buffalo/Niagara Chapter

Related Link Policy

The following policy describes the basis that PFLAG Buffalo/Niagara will use to determine the links that can be included as part of our website. If you feel that a site meets our criteria, feel free to contact our webmaster with the information.

This policy merely attempts to define the type of links that we see as compatible with the mission of our organization. This policy may not be complete, and PFLAG Buffalo/Niagara reserves the right to modify this policy as necessary. With each change to the policy, all existing links will be reviewed to verify that they meet the new policy.

This policy does not attempt to place judgement on any web site nor is its intent to censor access to sites that do not meet the criteria. If you are looking for information or web content that does not appear on our link list, you are encouraged to use the search button on your browser or any search engine to find it.

Criteria

1) Links will be to sites that are supportive of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered (GLBT) community and are supportive of the parents, families, and friends of GLBT community. Supportive in this context is defined as following our organizational mission as shown on our home page.

2) A majority of the content must be informational. The content must not be:

a) of a commercial nature. Sites with the sole purpose of selling a product or service will not be listed. For example, book publishers shows sites provide information about various titles could be included, but on-line bookstores could not.

b) of an advertising nature. Sites that are dominated by banner advertisements and/or links to commercial sites will not be listed.

c) of a sexually graphic nature.

3) As a non-denominational organization, we will include links to all religious organizations that are supportive of the full inclusion of GLBT people within their denomination. These can be links to a site for the denomination if it is fully inclusive, or to just special interests groups that are working within the denomination for the full inclusion of GLBT people.

4) Links will be to organizations that support people in Western New York whether those organizations are national or local.

5) Links to other PFLAG chapters will be included if they are either in an adjoining or nearby state or province (i.e.: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Ontario) or are in the same region as PFLAG Buffalo/Niagara (currently defined as the North Atlantic Region by PFLAG National).
